About the Property

Rock Cottage is a 16c Cornish property which sits completely alone above the Mawgan creek in AONB and encompasses an acre of private grounds, including a woodland, which leads to a jetty and the private foreshore where our rowing boat ‘Peggy’ is moored for guests (Easter to October). The spectacular view of the Helford River is exclusive to guests and it has an ever-changing landscape. Abundant water fowl and garden birds too; fishing, kayaking, rowing, sailing, paddle boarding as well as wild swimming are all possible from Rock Cottage. Away from the crowds and with no neighbours or owners living next door, you can have complete privacy when you book a holiday with us.

This well appointed retreat has all you need to enjoy a relaxing and comfortable stay. With full central heating by radiators, Rock Cottage is warm and welcoming whatever the season.

The kitchen/diner has a large picture window and gives you a view of the garden, river, surrounding fields and the birdlife from either the kitchen sink or the dinner table. It is fully equipped with a new AEG steam oven and washer/dryer, Smeg ceramic hob, 60/40 fridge/freezer, Bosch dishwasher and a Panasonic microwave oven. You will find everything clean, unbroken and in its place with plenty of utensils and glassware.

The newly renovated bathroom is beautifully tiled and has underfloor heating for the colder months, an electric shower over a large bath, toilet and a built-in cupboard with wash hand basin. There is a large illuminated mirror and a tall ladder style radiator.  Towels, luxury toiletries and bath mats are provided. This room also serves the Garden Room guests.

The fully carpeted and beamed lounge oozes charm and character with its quirky alcoves, thick walls and two window seats. There is an original copper canopied inglenook fireplace housing an electric wood burning stove. With a sofa and matching armchairs, an oak sideboard, table and chairs with soft wall lighting as well as an ipod dock music system, LED Smart TV, loads of games, books, puzzles, maps and two pairs of binoculars, you are sure to find it relaxing.

The open tread wooden staircase has a short wall mounted handrail and leads to the landing, children’s and master bedrooms. These two rooms have polished wooden floors, a fabulous view of the Helford River, are well furnished, comfortable and complemented with top quality bedding and mattresses. The triple aspect master bedroom has a king size bed and for the adjacent children’s room, there are two new white wooden 2ft 6″ wide beds both of which are normal length.

Ten paces from the front door is the fully carpeted Garden room where you will wake up to a spectacular view! This is set up for adults or older teenagers only. There are two very comfortable 3ft single zip and link beds (6ft bed can be arranged when requested by a couple), 40″ wall mounted TV, radio, overhead bedside lights all complimented with white New England style bedroom furniture.

On the patio is a large picnic table and during the warmer days, a sun parasol, drinks table and recliners are provided. The boat is 3.5M long and perfect for four persons. Lifejackets are supplied in various sizes, plus crabbing lines and bucket.

Our rates are fully inclusive of: Bed linen, towels, tea towels, BT Superfast Fibre Broadband (wifi), heating oil, electricity, luxury toiletries, boat, life jackets, dog gate, cot, highchair, baby bath & changing mat. You will also find dishwasher tablets, toilet rolls, cloths, sponge/scourer and cleaning materials have been left for you together with milk, tea, filter coffee, sugar cubes, herbs and spices and a welcome pack.

Within a short walk is the village of Mawgan where you can buy your fresh bread, dairy, meat, fish and local vegetables along with anything else you need. The Ship Inn has a fine reputation for its evening meals, and towards St Martin is Gear Farm Pasty shop, the Prince of Wales pub and Gwella dairy, who make their own ice cream. The location is perfect for exploring all the Lizard Peninsula. Enjoy its sandy beaches, quaint fishing coves, coastal path walks, pubs, restaurants, art galleries, numerous gardens, tin mines, museums, boat and fishing trips as well as Lands End. A holiday at Rock Cottage has something for everyone.  We look forward to welcoming you here!
