Buxton
Derbyshire
Buxton is a spa town in Derbyshire. Described as "the gateway” to the Peak District National Park, Buxton has the highest elevation (about 1,000 feet 300 m above sea level) of any market town in England. Landmarks include Poole's Cavern, an extensive limestone cavern open to the public, and St Ann's Well, fed by the geothermal spring, famously bottled and sold internationally by Buxton Mineral Water Company. With a wealth of independent and high street shopping opportunities, an ever-expanding choice of cafés, bars and restaurants, and a year-round programme of fairs and markets, this town has much to offer.
