Marshbank has played host to solitary writers looking for inspiration, extended family gatherings and celebrations, multi-family holidays often with children, couples travelling together but enjoying their own space and privacy and many other combinations. We have often seen families, grandparents and friends with overlapping holidays arrive and leave flexibly at different times in order to enjoy a special time together. However the house is not suitable for parties or student groups. Marshbank is a peaceful retreat that works its magic on those who spend time there. Everyone regrets leaving!
Borth is a lovely coastal village which owes its existence to the sea, fishing and boats. Miles of sandy beach stretch from the headland at Upper Borth to the rolling sand dunes of Ynyslas where the remains of war time defences are still visible. The Dyfi (Dovey) estuary to the north provides a playground for boating and jet-ski enthusiasts and offers wonderful views across to picturesque Aberdyfi (Aberdovey) set against the backdrop of the hills of Snowdonia National Park.
Behind the village is Cors Fochno (Borth Bog) a haven for wildlife which was designated a UNESCO biosphere reserve in 1976 and is unique in the United Kingdom.
