Y Sgubor Wen (the white barn) is a characterful converted barn, situated on a hillside overlooking the village of Gwyddelwern, near Corwen which is 3 miles away.
The barn comprises a kitchen with washing machine and fridge-freezer, a lounge with TV and wi-fi, a ‘galley bathroom with shower, wash basin and WC and a double bedroom which has a four-poster bed. The barn is all on one level, accessed by a door with two low steps. There is ample parking space, a garden area and a patio with garden furniture.
The nearest shops are in Corwen and include a post office, a butcher, a chemist, a delicatessen and a small supermarket.
The Llangollen steam railway now comes as far as Corwen. Llangollen, on the river Dee, is 10 miles away, and hosts the annual Eisteddfod in July each year. Here you can visit the home of The Ladies of Llangollen. Just outside the town, is the famous Horse Shoe Falls, an area much frequented by canoeists. Beyond Llangollen is the World Heritage site of the Pontcysyllte Acqueduct which you can either walk over or cross by narrow boat. National Trust properties in the area include Chirk Castle and Erddig. Snowdon is about about 20 miles and a nearby walking area is the Dee Valley Way.
